Darby, I have no doubt an on form Arnautovic would have scored. We made some good chances. That would have completely changed the game. We were very much in the game and looked like we could get at least a point until the last minute. But Arnautovic is another greedy tool who is best forgotten in China. I can understand a player wanting to go to a team that is perceived to offer more opportunity to get trophies and more money. But China? Sad man.

On plus side; Wimbledon lost 4-1 at home yesterday. Fancy our chances next week.

He has on the rare occasions that we’ve played two up front.

Chicha would have dropped back and added speed.

Really? He hasn't the rest of the season.

They got in our face and we couldn’t cope. I suspect that replacing Carroll with Arnie wouldn’t have made that much difference because our problems were much further downfield.

When Nasri is dropping back to the centre backs to pick up the ball then you know you’ve got problems in midfield. We needed a lot more movement and fast passing in the midfield.

In retrospect, I think my idea of playing Snodders in midfield instead of Noble, and Chicha next to Carroll would have been better than Pelle’s lineup. Snodders would have added energy and running while Chicha would have dropped back and added speed to the middle section of the park. Maybe next time Pellers will give my advice more serious consideration.

When you haven't won for a month and West Ham at home is your next fixture its happy days, especially if they have won the previous week. Always been the same.

So many injuries to key players as well. Wilshire was no surprise back February 4th apparently, Yarmolenko, Lanzini and the General out until the end of February

Losseš against Brighton, Burnley, Watford, Bournemouth ( Twice ), Wolves highlights how we are very much a work in progress.

I'd say half of the current team needs replacing to finally get the team MP wants

Agree 360 our game relies on scoring our opportunities. The first preferably then the opposition are not sitting back waiting to break.

From I was reading on West Ham Rumours website with some reliable sources Gomez will be in whenever Arnie goes

Re: Bournemouth v West Ham - The Official Match Thread FT 2-0
The interesting thing about us at the moment is that we generally dominate games in the midfield and final third.

Teams that sit back against us beat us only because we fail to turn our superior possession in to goals early enough in the game. If we did that it changes the complexion of the whole thing as the opposing team has to commit more players and are even more vunerable, which allows us to score more.

The thing is without the killer creative strikers there’s no point to playing possession football!
It’s too easy to defend against.

From a footballing perspective we are so close to being a really big team. Put any 2 of the leagues top strikers in our squad and it’s game over. I think we’d be top 6 all day.

I don’t think it will happen in jan as the deals are not there. But in the summer I think going all out for 2 PROPER no strikers (Lacazette level ones) will really do wonders.

If Perez, hernandez or carol never played again for the club I wouldn’t mind at all. I’d rather play the youth for the rest of the season. There is no point to any of them really.

Carroll tried to put it over the keeper. He’d have been better kicking the ball and the keeper into the back of the net.

You’d just hope there is a decent replacement target.

Agree Alfs its a work in progress. I reckon MP played Carroll for 70 minutes to send a message to the board.

When Carroll ballooned the ball over the bar and nearly out of the ground from 18 inches out that was a clear enough message i would assume

It was a disappointing performance but many on here are expecting Rome to be built in a day. We've come on leaps and bound compared to last season and the worry of relegation was dispelled after a half a season.

Presuming we spend the Arnie money on a new striker in this window, Pelle can then offload the deadwood in the summer. With that money along with a decent chunk of the Sky TV money, we should have another decent war chest. Then there's Yarmo and Manu to come back.

The future's a lot brighter than it has been for many a year and some patience is needed.

Re: Bournemouth v West Ham - The Official Match Thread FT 2-0
Wrong starting 11, slow ponderous movement which invariably ended is casual loss of possession. It took Bournemouth 10 seconds to get from one end of the pitch to the other when attacking. It took us 10 minutes. Why the manager seemed to think that first half performance was worthy of more for the second half is beyond me.

this.

pelli should pin this to the wall of the changing room monday. we took fucking hours to ,move the ball all day long.

Inconsistency is what we specialise in. Even when we have an utterly shit relegation season, you can’t trust us to be shit all season; we’ll go and beat a couple of the best teams on the way down.
